Welcome to Clipsearch, the Independent’s Digital Archive
Clipsearch includes every page of the Independent (and various other UK newspaper publications) since 2006. Previously only available on microfiche or in fragile bound copies, you can now take a journey through time by browsing and searching the articles found in Clipsearch.
Clipsearch includes over 9 million pages of articles, photographs and advertisements up to 72 hours ago (there is a 3 day embargo on all articles). Articles can be seen in their original format (as printed in the newspaper) and it also includes pieces that are never published online (as much as 25%).
Searching Clipsearch is free of charge; however you will need to register first. If you want to view in full or print out material, you must purchase credits or subscribe. The easiest way to buy articles is on a pay-as-you-go basis - clip views cost 1 credit and page views cost 2 credits. One credit costs £2 or less - the more you purchase, the more you save.
Clipsearch is handy for personal use if you want to look up articles that reference yourself, friends or family members, or if you need to research a person or company for a job interview or school project. It is also used by business professionals such as lawyers, librarians, small businesses, corporate researchers and PR professionals.
